Designing Games

"What kind of story is going to make the gameplay come alive? Likewise, what kind of gameplay is necessary to advance the story? I think "game design" is the practical work of reconciling and combining these two elements in a game."
- Hideo Kojima
A game can be the type of experience that changes who we are. If the stars align, where all the elements of the design work in cohesion, that experience is what we strive for. I can probably count on one hand (possibly 2 but my shoes won't need to come off) instances of that type of experience. The ones where, when all is said and done, you feel like a better person for it. I am a designer today because of these experiences. Reaching that level of excellence is the driving force in my life. In a nutshell.... that is what I feel I am on this planet for.
